Invoicing for tutoring and lessons
Whether you teach maths, languages or music, parents and students appreciate a simple invoice that lists each lesson by date. You can bill per lesson, per hour or as a monthly package paid in advance.
If you tutor several children in one family, put the student’s name in each line description so the parent can see who each lesson was for.
What to include on a tutoring invoice
- Your name, contact details and, if you have one, your business name
- The parent’s or student’s name
- An invoice number, the date and when payment is due
- Each lesson with its date, length and subject
- Packages or block bookings with the number of lessons
- Materials, exam fees or travel, if you charge for them
- Your cancellation policy and payment details
Example line items
- Maths tutoring – Emma – 4 × 1 h
- Piano lesson – 45 min – 3 Oct
- Exam preparation package – 10 lessons
- Workbook and practice papers
- Late cancellation – 50%
Packages and cancellations
Selling lessons in blocks paid in advance helps with planning and income. If you charge for late cancellations or missed lessons, explain the policy in the terms so families know it before they book.
